The calm is on the water

Doubtful Sound is an untouched wilderness accessible only by a boat trip across Lake Manapouri. Its' snow-capped cliffs rise dramatically out of the water to pierce the clouds. After rain waterfalls thunder down the towering ancient rainforests that adorn the cliffs. The mood is majestic , mystical and sometimes sombre.

I can think of no better way to begin a day than watching the sun backlight the mist rising over Lake Wanaka. All whilst surrounded by snowy peaks in the presence of one's favourite tree ..... standing thigh deep in icy cold water excepted.

Into the blue

There's no better place than Westland on a fine day. It's majesty is so often missed on a short visit as it is shrouded in cloud. On a clear day the immensity of the mountains towering around you is pure bliss.
